The Many Dynamics Chastity Can Take
There is no single template. The same device can sit inside very different relationships — solo, D/s, FLR, or built entirely around service.
Solo Discipline
The simplest version has no second person involved at all: one man, one program, one coach standing in for what a partner would otherwise track. It is chastity as a personal discipline, closer to a fitness commitment or a habit-tracking app than to a power-exchange relationship, even though the tools look the same. See “The Case for Practicing Alone” for the full case.
D/s and M/s Couples
In a standard Dominant/submissive dynamic, chastity is usually one tool among several — part of a broader set of agreements about control and behavior. Master/slave (M/s) relationships tend to take the same idea further: fewer negotiated limits, a more total handover of daily decisions, chastity as one piece of a much wider structure rather than the centerpiece.
Female-Led Relationships (FLR)
FLR dynamics put the woman specifically, not just “a dominant partner,” in the decision-making seat — and chastity tends to be one of the most concrete tools available to make that authority tangible day to day, rather than abstract. This is the dynamic our Female & Partner Perspective piece speaks to most directly.
Service-Oriented and Reward-Based
Some couples build the practice around service rather than restriction for its own sake: chastity as the default state, release earned through specific acts of devotion, effort, or attention rather than granted on a fixed schedule. The emphasis sits on what is given, not on what is withheld.
Scene-Only, Part-Time, or 24/7
Independent of which relationship shape it sits inside, chastity also varies by how continuously it runs: worn only during specific scenes, part-time on a schedule, or 24/7 as a standing condition of daily life. None of these is more “legitimate” than the others — they are simply different answers to how much of daily life the practice is meant to touch.
Choosing What Fits
None of these categories are mutually exclusive, and most real dynamics borrow from more than one. The point of naming them is not to sort anyone into a box — it is so two people negotiating this for the first time have a shared vocabulary for what they are actually agreeing to.
